Pace

I find brightly your eyes
In orange and in browns
Shining from deep base
Of slow pleasure's pace
Mingles, with those last
Sips of coffee to satisfy
An agonized heart with
Steady pulsing of veins

I find your hand set on
The place nine warmly
Filling up with thoughts
To drift through fingers
As between sand in an
Hourglass of moments
Mementos of impulses
Drawn forward in time

I find a memory of your
Slow whispers building
Chest rising in promise
Treasure meant for two
Stone and vigorous sap
Filled with vibrant glow
A velvet crushed sense
Of knowing every road

I find you and our loving
Travels a path of beauty
Crests the arc of a wave
Rests on sunshine's ray
Together, in unison with
Connection in dreaming
At frightening surrender
Hands combined to free

I find the absence of you
A strong presence fading
Of knowing and feelings
In the breadth of a pause
Exploring more in eternity
Within each welling night
Advancing our manifolds
Against the brighter suns
